This house was built for an artist on the footprint of a 24' x 24' garage. The local zoning officer prohibited us from expanding horizontally, so after insulating the slab, we added a story vertically.
The "beach house" design was chosen to allow my client to elevate his living space above his visually constricting neighborhood. By creating an open floor plan, the house receives natural light all day, and appears to be much larger than the dimensions show. Bedrooms, mechanical, and bathroom are on the first floor.
At 1152 square feet, this building is an affordable alternative to mobile, modular, and prefabricated homes.
